I have been going to The Studio since it opened and have discovered a gem. I’ve never done pilates on a reformer before. What a treat! Each time I’ve worked out, there’s a new challenge. No two sessions are the same. Just when you think you’ve got it down, something new is shown. It’s always a great workout. The studio has a great feel to it. Janice, the owner, really cares about fitness. She makes you feel like you are her only client. She’s invested in your health and wants you to get the most out of your workout. I’ve seen my body change. I’m toning my whole body. Yay!!! As an added bonus, I have issues with my wrist from an injury a few years ago, and I’ve begun to have movement in areas that have not moved. Amazing!
My Name is Neil and I am 63 years old. Through my whole life I have been health and fitness conscious. But in my retirement years I found it harder to be motivated to stay on a good fitness program. I decided in the summer of 2011 that I would find some sort of “directed” fitness program. In sports, I always responded to good coaching so I thought I would seek that out in my fitness program. I GOT REALLY LUCKY!. One day while visiting a business on route 79 I saw the sign for The Studio. I stopped in and Janice Wessels (the owner) immediately took time to tell me about their programs, costs and schedules. I decided to GO FOR IT. So, I started with spinning classes, group pilates (using pilates equipment) and mat pilates. I started going 3 to 4 times per week. The first couple of sessions were really hard because I realized I hadn’t been working out properly in the past. But within a couple weeks I was really into the sessions. The pilates has greatly improved my core strength and flexibility. I am a golfer, and I really believe this work has helped be more consistent on the course. The spinning classes are terrific for cardio work and just burning a lot of calories. I also take a class they call “cyclates” which is 30 minutes of spinning and 30 minutes of mat pilates. This is a great combo workout. Well, for me the results have been fantastic. I lost 18 pounds in about 10 weeks and just really felt terrific – like I was doing really good thing s for my body. One of the great aspects of THE STUDIO is the quality of the instructors of the classes. Janice really selects quality individuals to lead these classes. To a person, they are positive, energetic, knowledgeable about their class, and motivating. Oh, and as an added benefit, THE STUDIO offers free seminars on good nutrition and other aspects of healthy living. I really get the feeling that Janice and the instructors really care about the well being of their clients. This is exactly what I was looking for to add to my quality of life in my “golden years”. Good job Janice – keep up the good work!
Have been training with Janice since November of 2010; what makes training with Janice different from other pilates training that I have taken in the past is that she places such strong emphasis on proper positioning/proper alignment; thereby, eliminating the potential for injuries; focusing on the actual muscle group; and greatly improving your own flexibility and overall strength. I am 52 years old; plan on taking pilates for many years to come; and look forward to even becoming more flexible and stronger –
